Diseño de un plan estratégico de desarrollo turístico sostenible para el GAD del cantón El Tambo, provincia de Cañar, período 2023-2027

Abstract

The present research work called "DESIGN OF A STRATEGIC PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT FOR THE GAD OF EL TAMBO CANTON, PROVINCE OF CAÑAR PERIOD 2023-2027" had the purpose of promoting local economic development through the tourism sector, for this purpose, an investigation was carried out to identify the perspective that visitors of El Tambo canton have on the canton and its tourism, using research instruments such as the interview and the questionnaire, instruments that were applied, in the case of the interview to a municipal official and the case of the survey, to visitors to the canton. To conduct the study, a sample was taken based on the population of visitors of El Tambo in 2018, which was 1454 visitors, among which were national, foreign, and local tourists; these data were provided by the GAD of El Tambo and are found in its PDOT and are the latest records of visits to the canton. With the application of the survey and interview, it was found that one of the main reasons why tourism in the canton has not been boosted is due to the quality of tourism-related services offered, causing tourists not to stay in the canton for more than a day, in addition to the little interest of the private sector to get involved in tourism activities and the lack of tourism projects and programs proposed by the GAD, a fact evidenced in the PDOT in which the approach to tourism is shown in a general way. In addition, a diagnosis was made to identify the tourism situation of the canton of El Tambo and based on which tourism products and strategies that contribute to tourism development were proposed, the tourism product "El Tambo, dream destination" was proposed, in which four tourist packages were proposed, including duration, difficulty and price of each one of them and covering the tourist attractions of the canton. It was concluded that to promote tourism in the canton, the GAD of El Tambo must become more involved in the development of tourism projects and programs through the development of a strategic plan for sustainable tourism development and, if possible, to use this work as a basis.
