Composición y estructura del bosque protector Chamanapamba perteneciente a la fundación Oscar Efrén Reyes, cantón Baños de Agua Santa, provincia de Tungurahua.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to carry out a composition and structure study, determine the floristic diversity according to the importance value and the biodiversity indexes. The following methodology was proposed where 5 transects of 4x50 meters were made givinga total area of 1000 m². The DBH and the height of the species greater than 5 cm were taken to analyze the structure of the forest, all the diameters obtained were used and categorized into 4 classes, the respective calculations were made in terms of the importance value index, using the Past program and the diversity index where the Simpson and Shannon index was applied. The results showed that 76 individuals with 10cm or more of Diameter at Breast Height (DBH) were found in the forest. In reference toGenera, in the forest, the Rubiaceae and Cyatheaceae families are the most abundant since they have 15 individuals respectively, which are: Palicourea amethystina, Palicourea apicata, Palicourea andrei and Cyathea caracasana which have the highest importance value; followed by Chloranthaceae, with 2 species Hedyosmun cuatrecazanum and Hedyosmun scabrum with 13 individuals in total. The individuals Palicourea amethystina and Cyathea caracasana for being found constantly in the transect is reflected that in the montane forest is common or own this species. In the studyit was concluded that the present belongs to a secondary forest for having found mostly species with young shafts, this validates in studies in the same geographical area.
