Análisis de la contaminación de aceites lubricantes usados en el piso de talleres y lubricadoras automotrices en la ciudad de Riobamba

Abstract

In this curricular integration work, the contamination generated in workshops was analyzed and automotive lubricators in Riobamba city to know the current situation on the management of used lubricating oils and identify the main problems presented by the owners when managing those substances. A previous investigation was carried out about the norms and current ordinances that regulate the disposal of residual lubricating oils, in addition to the existing automotive service centers in Riobamba city. It was also elaborated a survey based on the previous information, establishing three categories: lubricators, automotive workshops, and workshops with lubricator service included. Finally, it encountered serious problems in the management of used lubricating oil. There was mainly a high ignorance of the owners about the rules on the management of oil residual lubricants. It determined that lubricators represent more than half of the establishments with 61%. They are also the main generators in the volume of waste oil, causing further contamination with their cleaning methods in the event of a spill on the floor. In general, there was a lack of commitment from the owners and municipal authorities to verify that the establishments strictly comply with the established standards of operation and management of hazardous substances. It is recommended to inform and train the owners of the establishments to reduce the polluting effect of the waste oil. In addition, establishing a strict control mainly of the municipal authorities.
