Estudio para la reestructuración de rutas de transporte intracantonal, para cubrir las necesidades de movilidad que se generará en el nuevo Terminal Terrestre Sur de la ciudad de Ambato, provincia de Tungurahua

Abstract

The present titling work aims to develop a proposal for the restructuring of routes and frequencies of urban inter-cantonal public transport in the canton of Ambato, Tungurahua province, with the objective of improving the mobility generated in the new southern ground terminal of the canton. The research starts from the analysis of the current transport situation, by collecting information through 384 Origin –Destination surveys obtained as a sample of the total 3,458,905 inhabitants that the study area has, in order to obtain the number of the road infrastructure were also carried out and to complete the gathering of information, the study for the ascent and descent was carried out, same that took place on the days Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, all the time that lasted the tour, which served to obtain the number of passengers per direction at peak hours and hours valley, occupancy rate of the urban inter-cantonal public transport service, as a result it was obtained that the northern area is the one that generates the greatest travel demand to the current terminal with 42% users, another important result that was obtained is that 40% of the total population or It uses urban inter-cantonal public transport being the first most used means of transport followed by private transport, it was concluded that if it is necessary to expand new routes and frequencies to the new interprovincial terminal located in the southern sector of the city, it is recommended to the direction of transit, transport, and Ambato security keep in mind the proposal for the restructuring of routes and frequencies in the canton Ambato, as a technical support prior to the decision-making for the putting into operation of the new terminal.
