Valoración económica ambiental del Río Chambo en el tramo del Relleno Sanitario Porlón.

Abstract

The objective of evaluating Chambo River economically and environmentally in the section of the Porlón sanitary landfill was developed characterizing the environmental quality of the river water, evaluating the environmental services it provides to estimate them based on a monetary value. The direct method was used based on the methods of use values, defensive expenses and contingent valuation, applying 390 surveys directed to the inhabitants of the sector, while for the data processing and evaluation the Real Stats software was used for the descriptive statistical analyses. and correlation. The environmental services identified and analysed were: food of vegetable origin, water for drinking trough, biological control, regulation and water purification, scenic beauty and primary production giving an average value of 7.91 / 10. The significant sociodemographic parameters were the level of education and occupation in the environmental services of provision and regulation. Disaggregating the total economic value according to the defensive spending method, the total of USD 6,055.00 was obtained for the treatment of diseases associated with water consumption, which together with the willingness to pay of USD 13,251.64 and USD 526,685.25 corresponding at the value of direct use of the plant resource, a total economic value of 533.881,89 USD was determined for the Parroquia of Cubijies. If the calculated environmental monetary value of Cubijíes is considered, in relation to its budget of 174,875.13 USD, a surplus of 3.05 times more of the economic resources than that assigned annually to the parroquia is shown. While it is related to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country, it would contribute 0.00052% to the economic indicator. One of the applications of this study will be environmental planning to meet the needs of the parroquia so that studies should be made to other natural resources.
