Desarrollo de indicadores de gestión de tránsito para evaluar la accidentabilidad en el cantón Riobamba

Abstract

The objective of the present degree work is to develop the traffic management indicators for the evaluation of the accident rate in the canton of Riobamba to identify existing black spots, determine the main types of traffic accidents and propose the road safety indexes. For the investigation, 382 revision cards were used directed to the vehicle units of the operators of: heavy load, interprovincial, intraprovincial, mixed, tourism, taxi and intracantonal , while for the infrastructure, observation cards were used that provide information about: lighting, lane widths, track widths, parterre, sidewalk; while for pedestrians 383 surveys were conducted where it was obtained: how many traffic sanctions have they had, at what level do the traffic laws comply, behavior in case of eventualities. With all the information the identification of a total of 20 black points was determined. The indicators that are proposed in the present work are the following: vertical signaling, horizontal signaling, auxiliary lanes, location of intersections, pavement status, active safety, passive safety. It is also recommended to the technicians of the Management of Mobility, Traffic and Transportation to update the information of traffic accidents to achieve the identification of more hot spots in the city and to study and evaluate them to increase the safety of pedestrians, improve the infrastructure and increase safety in the vehicular units.
